The Equitable Digital Access course is a specialized 30-hour certification program developed with the support of the Mozilla RCC project. It is designed to equip learners with the knowledge, skills, and practical tools necessary to become certified digital accessibility auditors. The course focuses on fostering a deep understanding of the principles of accessibility and inclusion in the digital space, especially in relation to individuals with diverse needs, including persons with disabilities.
Participants are introduced to various models and types of disabilities, legal frameworks governing digital accessibility, and contemporary practices in inclusive design. The curriculum is structured into three core modules: Models and Types of Disability, Legal Systems and Digital Accessibility Audit, and Digital Accessibility and Inclusion. Each module combines analytical, evaluative, and creative learning outcomes, enabling learners to not only assess digital content for accessibility compliance but also to design inclusive communication strategies and recommend assistive technologies.
Assessment is based on quizzes and practical exercises, ensuring that learners gain both conceptual clarity and real-world application experience. By the end of the course, participants are well-prepared to carry out digital accessibility audits and contribute meaningfully to creating more inclusive digital environments. This course is ideal for educators, technologists, designers, and anyone committed to equitable digital access.
